I personally have been able to save missionaries a few hundred dollars on international flights by calling some of the phone numbers below. I saved a missionary travelling to Austria around $150 in just a few minutes work. I was able to save a missionary family of five travelling to Italy around $150 for just a few minutes work. Perhaps your local agency is giving you the best price. I invite you to compare and try to save money. Please look at the Brigada Travel Bids section. If you live overseas, try sending e-mail to some agencies. Most of the agencies are US agencies. Some however specialize in international travel. If you live overseas, one of the best ways to save money is to get the newspaper of the largest city in your country or largest city in your region of the country and look in the classified section for special rates for international flights. Many will have access to "consolidator flight prices". Please send to me any other agencies you either found good prices or service.
Which agency will give the best price???
It can vary with destination and season. There certainly is a lot of variation. Here are some results from some phone calls, calling
Christian and secular travel agencies to see who could offer the best price for for round trip air travel between New York and Moscow. Travel is usually less each way when travelling on Monday through Thursday. It usually costs less on "consolidator" flights.
However these prices are all out of date now.

*Although the article below is referring to Swiss Air in Russia, I think they
have this policy around the world.
I called Swiss Air to find out about new discounts on plane tickets for
expatriate missionaries on flights from Moscow or St. Petersburg to the
states. I have found that
1. The organization needs to register first
with Swiss Air.
2. The cities included in the discount fares are Chicago, Miami, Atlanta,
San Francisco, New York, Washington, (and Dallas but you have to stay
overnight in Brussels.
3. You can call Swiss Air in Moscow for more information - 937 77 67.
They can also tell you about flying from St. Petersburg.
I had a discount on British airways to Moscow from Seattle return. You might want to ask BA in England about it first, rather than trying to deal with Moscow. My travel agent had to send an official letterhead from my organization saying they were a registered charity & I was with them and needed to travel those dates. (something like that). I think it came to at least a 10% discount.
KLM has similar, called "Raptum" fares, I believe.
