Firm Foundations: Creation to Christ.
We do praise the Lord for their zeal to carry the Gospel to those who have not heard and we want to mention the following excellent item which can be very helpful in working with people either in English or other languages who do not have a Bible background. It is "Firm Foundations: Creation to Christ" , and is available in English, Russian, Spanish, Albanian, and other languages. There are 50 lessons designed for a one-year course, but included is a plan for teaching in a shorter period of time if so desired.

The teacher's manual includes three 17" X 22" color maps and one 17" X 66" color chart of the Bible events covered. The lessons begin with creation and follow God's revelation of the Gospel progressively through the Bible, highlighting key themes. The standard edition is designed for adults and teens. There is also a Children's Edition for younger ages, and the 50 lessons in the Children's Edition parallel those in the adult edition.

This course can be used very effectively in North American churches as a Sunday School class for people from other parts of the world who speak English as a second language. Many of these people are open to hearing about the Bible and Jesus Christ, but they often are confused by the standard preaching and teaching at churches because they don't understand even the basics of Bible truth.

Fundamental Baptist missionary friend John O'Brien gives the following testimony of the Russian edition of the 'Firm Foundations' course: "There is a comprehensive Chronological Gospel book ('Firm Foundations: Creation to Christ') in Russian being printed by New Tribes Mission. I've examined the book personally at length and have found it to be sound. We plan on using the book for discipleship for new converts. Though we personally disagree with NTM on it's various doctrines, nonetheless we've found this particular book a rare gem due to it's thoroughness in presenting the necessary principles of the Gospel: God's Holiness, Man's Sinful Depravity, Consequences of Sin, Promise of the Redeemer, Substitutionary Atonement, Salvation by God's grace."

Grace and peace to you from the Lord Jesus. We had a baptism this past weekend. A man of 64 years was baptized. He has come out from the beginning but was confused about salvation thinking that Christ plus his own effects would save him. This is not uncommon for a Orthodox person who has a background of religious rituals. Yet, praise the Lord that during the summer he passed from death into life. Please pray for his wife, Elena, who is not saved.

In addition we had another wedding. A couple, where both had recently testified of receiving Christ, came together in marriage this weekend. The meeting hall was filled with their relatives - all unsaved - to witness the ceremony and hear the Gospel. Please pray that Christ would be the head of their household and that some of their relatives would be saved.

Please pray also for the ministry of the Word. We have started a survey of the Old Testament on Sunday while continuing with discipleship lessons on Wednesday. Pray that the ministry would be Christ-centered, edifying, practical and that the saints would be doers of the Word rather than just listeners. Pray also for Sarah and her children's meetings as they are quite profitable.

On a practical side, pray for the economy here. It is very bad and people (including the believers) have a hard time finding work that is sufficient for their needs. Pray that God would help the believers find regular work and bless those who do have work, especially those who are sellers of clothes and food.

On the family side, the children have started homeschooling and are off to a good start due to the wise and careful guidance of Nancy. Anna Marie is learning how to read now and is quite excited about it. Joel still needs your prayers about his speaking ability. Please pray that God would touch his tongue and that he would start speaking clearly. Nancy and I celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary this past week. Pray that God would continue to bless our marriage. Of course, while speaking of marriage it reminds us that we await for the Bridegroom to come back for His bride. Come, Lord Jesus. Come!
