Awana Clubs International

www.awana.org

Excellent ministry to have in a church for children different children's activities relating to the Bible, memorizing scripture

About Awana

The word Awana stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed and comes from 2 Timothy 2:15. "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." Awana is a wonderful tool for the local church.

Besides the evangelism and discipleship opportunities it provides, Awana helps equip individuals in your church for the work of the ministry. Imagine turning your congregation into an army serving God. Having Awana in your church is a great way for fringe members to become involved, and it helps unite your lay leaders as a team in serving our Lord.

People who have done little or no volunteer work find a place of meaningful ministry and are assimilated into your church. They work with the children and youth, share the gospel with them, encourage them, and have fun doing it! Soon many adults become so involved with Awana and other programs in the church that they can't imagine not being active in your ministry.

This not only helps them to grow spiritually, but it benefits your church, too. Awana works! Countless times, I've witnessed the way God has used this club program to reach youth and adults for Christ and train them to serve Him.

So, if you want to equip adults to serve our God and evangelize, challenge, and train the youth of the world by using a Bible-based, Christ-centered program, then Awana can help.

If you have any questions, please call. Our Awana team of missionaries would love to show you how you can enhance your church's outreach and build your lay leadership.

Boys' Brigade

Boys' Brigade Helps Spread Gospel In Singapore

Many boys and teenagers in Singapore are turning to Christ through the work of the Boys' Brigade, a global church organization with a strong following in East Asia. Through Bible studies, fellowship and military-style drills, the club is bringing Christian values to Singapore's youth, says Brian Koh, a Boys' Brigade captain at a Presbyterian Church in Singapore. "We want the boys to know about Jesus Christ by the time they leave the organization," he says. "But we have to be careful. Most parents recognize their children's right to choose their religion, but the law says that you cannot impose a religion on anyone under the age of 18." The Boys' Brigade has trained boys on the twin pillars of religion and discipline since 1883. Today the ministry and its associated organizations work in more than 70 countries with a total membership approaching 500,000. (Council for World Mission)

ChildTel Ministries

ChildTel Ministries (previously known as Childrens Telephone Ministry) is a Christ centered, non-denominational, non-profit Christian ministry. Since 1977, the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ has been shared with boys and girls throughout the world using recorded telephone messages, free Bible lessons in the mail and colorful tracts designed especially for children.

FAIR MINISTRY: Special telephones are taken to state and county fairs where boys and girls may listen to a short Gospel message and then sign up for free Bible lessons in the mail. They may also play the "Gospel Computer Quiz" or see special Gospel rope tricks.

SKETCH BOARD: Colorful Gospel presentations using a sketch board and paints are used to share Christ with children in an open air environment in the inner city, as well as in churches, Christian schools and other places.

FOLLOW-UP: ChildTel Ministries provides follow-up for churches and other ministries by sending free Bible lessons in the mail.

TRAINING: Workshops designed to train believers to share the love of God with children are taught in churches. These workshops are very practical and have been an important resource for many. Click here for some handy hints and tips for sharing Christ with children.

PRAYER: ChildTel Ministries is based on the Word of God, and on prayer. We believe that it is through prayer that God works. Please pray for this ministry regularly.

FINANCIAL: This is a non-profit ministry, and is supported by donations from those that wish to help share God's word with children. NOTE: Because we have limited funds, we are unable to supply other ministries with materials.

ACCOUNTABILITY: For the past 19 years ChildTel Ministries has been a part of Vision New England, also known as the Evangelistic Association of New England, 279 Cambridge St, Burlington MA 01803. (781) 229-1990 As of January 1, 1998, ChildTel Ministries will be under Midway Ministries of America, which is registered with the IRS as a nonprofit organization, (section 501c).

CONTACT: To contact ChildTel Ministries and schedule a workshop or event, call Edward A. Swehla (781) 935-1134 [USA].

Evangelism Explosion is at the head of a movement reaching kids with the Gospel. Evangelism Explosion's Karen Gushta works with 'Kids' EE', specifically geared to train youth leaders, who in turn, teach the kids. "We see that we should be talking about a 4/14 window. The opportunity is there to reach kids at this time when they are very open to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord. So, we want to train and equip children to be reaching their peers, their friends, their brothers and sisters and others with the Gospel." Gushta says the program is growing, and asks people to pray for the team leaders. "Kids' EE is now in 35 countries; it's on every continent. We're just having such a great response overseas. Right now, we do have a clinic that's just about to start in Zambia. One of our field representatives has already trained 73 children's leaders and pastors in eastern Africa."

Neighborhood Bible Time began in 1952 in the hearts of Rev. and Mrs. Charles B. Homsher. Their desire was to reach the neighborhood kids in the slums of Denver, Colorado. They began conducting children's programs on a school bus in different locations. The Lord blessed and the outreach and effectiveness of the ministry has grown.

The emphasis on enthusiasm, evangelism, Scripture memory and Bible Study has not changed over these many years. The 1999 Evangelists were part of 232 crusades in 42 states, Canada, South Africa and Brazil. 44,378 young people were reached with the Gospel, with 7,815 Salvation decisions, 1,825 Dedication decisions, and 13,354 teens reached.

Check out 21st Century Kids Connect, a web site on children's missions education, 21st Century Kids Connect is a consortium of children's workers, parents, organizations and Christian school teachers who believe this generation may well be the one that sees the Great Commission completed.

The Mission Statement: In the spirit of collaboration and to enhance the children's missions education/mobilization movement, we have come together to: facilitate communication and networking among individuals, churches, Christian schools, publishers and organizations promote research and the development of quality and forward thinking materials identify resources and evaluate them according to Biblically, educationally and culturally relevant standard of criteria provide professional and lay training opportunities

What will 21st Century Kids Connect do?

  1. Inform children's workers about cutting-edge issues, trends, and methodologies in missions education.
  2. Evaluate resources, curricula, and tools: gather and describe them, comment on them, and make recommendations.
  3. Inform workers of training events, conferences, prayer emphases and other such opportunities.
  4. Foster communication and interaction among children's mission workers through a web site and e-mail forums.

CHILDREN'S MISSIONS RESOURCE FILE - A 7-VOLUME SET! FOR FREE!

www.brigada.org/today/articles/kids1.html

Gerry Dueck at the US Center in Pasadena has painstakingly assembled a a tremendous collection of resources for kids and missions. It's a whoppin' 118K file (probably 70 pages??!), split it into 7 volumes, and made it available to Brigada participants at no charge.

Why?

Because she loves kids and wants these resources to be used to share with
them the world and its needs! So -- grab the phone and call your nearest Christian Education director. He or she needs this bibliography. It's very very detailed and complete with email addresses and toll-free numbers and fax numbers galore. To get it, copy these lines and paste them into an email message to hub@xc.org . The 118K of resources will be emailed to you in a 7-volume set that you can reassemble on your own computer.

(If there is an error message and it is not sent to you, you may still see the resource list on the website address above or order the book.)

I once heard that the average age at which a person decides to become a missionary is something like 8 years old. Following are resources specifically geared to equipping us to mobilize children. First is a review on an excellent kid's mobilization webpage, followed by a list of organizations focusing on children's mobilization, and then a list of videos for children. ~N.W.
